Window renovation
The sashes are removed from the case. All exterior paint is then removed and bare timber is sanded down .the tenon joints are the retightened and any open joints are filled. All putty work is then checked and any that is loose is care fully hacked out and re putteyed. The sash is then primed and ready to go back in the case. The case is burnt back to bare wood and sanded down and primed.
Pulleys are oiled and freed so they can run with out sticking. We can also replace pulleys which are broken . We then re rope the case with waxed sash cord and check window weights and adjust as required .New redwood parting beads are then fitted and new baton rods (staff beads).
Draught Proofing
Sashes are machined with a groove to accept a pile carrier with polypropylene brushes which take up the gaps around the case. Parting beads and baton rods are also fitted with brushes which will make your window 98% draught proof and take away the rattle and draughts plus the added bonus of dust free window cills if you live in the centre of town you will know what I mean.So here is an answer to a problem you have suffered for many years.One of the first thing that many custumers notice is the noise reduction in the room. We also draught proof doors which also adds to the comfort of your house.
Window Stripping Service
The sashes are removed from the case and the opening is boarded up. We then take the windows to Dip'n'Strip whom we have worked with for several years. They strip the windows to a professional finish. We then collect the sashes and strip all the putty from the frame, re-glue the tenon joints and put the sashes in sash cramps overnight. The glass is then re-puttyed (please note we take great care when we strip the windows but sometimes the glass is broken, this is at the owners risk) we then rub down the sashes with wire wool.
Painting Service
All bare wood is primed on the outside of the window. We also paint outside and inside if required - one coat undercoat, one coat gloss or any finish that you want. We will also paint the windows with linseed oil paint if requested; this paint will outlast normal gloss paint by many years. This process has been used in Sweden for many years and is a tried and tested method of painting windows which will give you less maintenance in years to come.
Pointing Service
We point the windows with Febmast which is burnt sand and linseed oil. This method is the traditional way which has been used for centuries which proves it is the best way to seal around the windows.
Ironmongery
We can supply and fit any type of ironmongery for sash and case windows. It can be finished in polished brass or chrome. We can also source one of types of window fittings which normal ironmongers do not stock.We can also fit key lockable locks to all your windows for insurance purposes which makes a lot of sense when you are getting your windows renovated as once we are finished the widow will slide at lot easier than it did before.
Window vents can also be installed to the sash frame and dont look obtrusive when fitted.
New Windows
All new windows are carefully made to match the existing and can be made in any timber that you require we will then glaze them in any type of glass that you require and fit ironmongery to suit your requirements,all exterior bare timber is primed and interior can be waxed oiled or painted . Shutters can be repaired or replaced with new ones All new windows come complete with new weights if required.
